Parr 524A Capsule Liner, for Use in Conjunction with Stainless Steel Capsule, 100/EA
Parr 524A Capsule Liners offer an inexpensive solution to solid samples that have a tendency to not completely burn during a calorimetric test. Use of the liner in conjunction with the standard stainless steel combustion capsule
(43AS) promotes more complete combustion of the sample. More complete combustion is facilitated by the low thermal conductivity, low heat storage and high heat reflectance of the liner material. Use of the liners is indicated
for fuel samples such as coke, which have combustion characteristics during calorimetric testing that can lead to degraded repeatability and reproducibility. Use of a capsule liner is also indicated when the use of combustion aids
with solid test samples is not desirable or practicable. When combustion capsule liners are used, the accuracy and the repeatability of calorimetric tests with difficult samples can improve significantly.
The liners come in the form of thin disks that are simply fitted to the inside of the stainless steel combustion capsule. Once the disk is fitted, the sample is introduced into the capsule in the usual manner and placed on top of the liner. The liner is made from a 100% inorganic material processed from highly washed, spun, high purity alumina-silica fibers. The sheet material is manufactured using a patented process that provides high tensile handling strength. The material contains no organic binders and as a result no additional calorimetric corrections need to be applied when a capsule liner is used. The liners are not reusable. As a result, one liner per test is required.The liners are packaged in wide mouth plastic containers, each holding approximately 100 pieces (net weight 17 grams).
Use:
1. Remove the liner from the container.
2. Center the liner over a 43AS Combustion Capsule and gently press in the middle until the liner is
fully lining the capsule.
3. Tare the capsule with the liner on a balance.
4. Add the sample to the 43AS w/524A.
5. Run the test.
6. Discard the residue of the 524A after each test.
